Bayou Babel

Brand Identity

Year: 2024

Bayou Babel is a new social community that fosters cultural exchange and connection within New Orleans’s diverse community. With an aim to unite language enthusiasts of all levels, Bayou Babel hosts language exchange happy hours where participants can hone their language skills or discover entirely new linguistic horizons.

When crafting the brand identity for Bayou Babel, I aimed to create a versatile, legible, and inviting design that would resonate with a diverse audience. Understanding that the event welcomes speakers of all levels, it was crucial for the identity to exude warmth and approachability rather than a corporate or overly polished aesthetic.

Typography

In selecting the typography, my goal was to strike a balance between playfulness and legibility. I chose Alfarn 2 for its bold strokes and humanistic nuances, which injects a sense of liveliness into the design while remaining highly readable. Complementing this is New Frank Regular, a versatile sans-serif typeface that adds a streamlined feel to the body text, ensuring clarity and readability across all communication materials.

Color Palette

The color palette was crafted with flexibility in mind, featuring a vibrant combination of bright hues tempered by warm neutrals. This balance allows for seamless integration across various mediums and applications, providing the client with a rich array of options to create engaging graphics and printed materials.
